Crispy Lao Fried Wings
Seasoned Lao-style and fried until the skin properly cracks.
View DishShredded green papaya pounded to order with a bold, funky, fiery Lao dressing — this is the dish that tells you whether a kitchen is really cooking Lao food. Ours is punchy, tangy and unapologetically spicy, and it is one of the main reasons guests seek us out in northeast Calgary.
Lao papaya salad (tam mak hoong) is not the sweeter Thai version most Canadians have met. It leans savoury and pungent, with a deeper, earthier dressing and considerably more heat. The papaya is shredded and pounded in a mortar so the strands bruise just enough to drink up the dressing while staying crunchy.
We make it to order, because a papaya salad that has been sitting goes soft and loses its edge. Expect crunch, sourness, salt and real chilli heat all arriving at once. If you have been searching for the best papaya salad near you in Calgary, this is the version to try — and we can dial the heat up or down.
This dish is spicy by tradition — tell us your heat level when you order.

Kin Dee Street Kitchen makes Lao-style papaya salad to order at 3449 12 St NE in northeast Calgary. Lao cooking is rare in the city, and this is one of our signature dishes.
The Lao version is more savoury and pungent with a deeper dressing and noticeably more heat, while the Thai version is sweeter and lighter. If you have only had the Thai style, the Lao version will taste bolder.
Traditionally quite spicy — heat is part of the dish. Tell us your preferred spice level when you order and our kitchen will adjust it for you.
Sticky rice is the classic partner, and crispy Lao fried wings or pork skewers round it out into a full meal. Many guests order all three together.
Yes. It is available for dine-in, takeout, online ordering, delivery and catering. Because it is pounded to order, it is at its best eaten soon after pickup.
